Teens 13-17yrs
Not into team sports? Or maybe you're into all the sports but want to add something that actually teaches self-defence, sharpens your thinking, and doesn’t get boring? This is your spot.
BJJ is like physical chess—fast-paced, technical, and seriously addictive. You’ll train with people your own age, push yourself in new ways, and gain real confidence without needing to be loud about it. Plus, you’ll join a community that’s got your back—on and off the mats.
No egos. No pressure. Just real skills and solid mates.

KIDS 5+ yrs
Got a kid who climbs the furniture, wrestles the dog, or just needs a boost in confidence? Perfect. At Riff Raff, we teach Jiu-Jitsu in a way that’s fun, challenging, and actually sticks. Kids learn how to move, think, and stand tall—on and off the mats.
We build strength, focus, and resilience without ever forgetting to have a laugh. They’ll learn how to handle themselves, work as a team, and channel their energy into something seriously cool.
No bullies. No boredom. Just good skills and good vibes.

you ask, we answer
Q: What age can my child start training at Riff Raff?
A: We welcome kids from 7 years and up.
Q: Do they need to be super fit or sporty?
A: Not at all. BJJ is for all types of kids—shy ones, wild ones, sporty ones, and everyone in between.
Q: What do they wear for their first class?
A: Just comfy gym clothes—shorts or leggings and a t-shirt. No zips, buttons, or jewellery. We have information on inexpensive gi’s/uniforms for once your kid joins.
Q: Can I stay and watch?
A: Yes. We’ve got space for you to chill while your kid trains. However, we do not tolerate parents coaching from the sidelines.
Q: What if my kid is nervous or shy?
A: That’s more common than you’d think! We go slow, make them feel welcome, and pair them up with kind, experienced students and coaches. Most of our confident kids now were once nervous first-timers too.
Q: Are there competitions? Do they have to compete?
A: Competitions are totally optional. Some kids love them, some don’t—and that’s fine with us. We focus on skills, growth, and confidence over medals.
Q: How do you progress or grade the kids?
A: We use a belt/stripe system designed for younger learners. Promotions are based on attitude, effort, attendance, and improvement—not just winning or beating others.
Q: How do I sign them up for a trial?
A: Easy—just shoot us an email, and we’ll be in touch to book them in. No pressure, no lock-in.
