Who are we?
We’re a husband-and-wife team teaching a constraints-led approach (CLA) to Jiu Jitsu in Bay St, Tweed Heads.
Riff Raff is where the misfits roll.
No politics. No egos. No shrimping up and down the mats.
We don’t care where you train, what patch you wear, or how cool your rash guard is.
We’re about community, progression, good vibes, and rad Jiu Jitsu.
Jimmy has 10+ years of Jiu Jitsu under his (black) belt. After 20-odd years in the kitchen making people fat and happy, a mate introduced him to wrasslin’ — and that was it. He’s been on the mats ever since.
Shoallea was a vet nurse for 13 years and is now a paramedic (for humans this time). She’s wrestled her fair share of animals in her life — so being on the mats feels natural.
We’ve built a place where everyone’s welcome — as long as your head is screwed on and your hygiene is on point.

Our space
Tucked just off Bay Street, down Navigation Lane, you'll find a space that feels more like your mate’s lounge room than a traditional gym. Riff Raff isn't your typical Jiu-Jitsu academy—we’ve carved out something different here.
Step through our unassuming entrance and you’ll find a place built on connection, not convention. We’ve kept things simple, welcoming, and just a little bit rebellious.
We’ve got shower facilities on site & a dunny!
We’re not polished, and we’re not trying to be. No egos, no fluff—just solid Jiu-Jitsu, good people, and a space that feels more like your living room than a dojo.
